This position has responsibility for the development, production and distribution of print and electronic publications related to public health. The incumbent ensures public health communications content is professionally designed and developed, is scientifically-based, and consistent with other health education and risk communication materials.
This position will also work closely and in communication with graphics and media staff and public information officers.
The position reports to the Department of Public Health's Director of External Relations and Communications.
Supervises, trains, and evaluates professional staff of analyst in the development and maintenance of internal and external newsletters and other communication vehicles including internet; ensures communication materials are kept up to date based on changes in science and public health practice; develops and initiates mass marketing/social marketing campaigns; maintains repository for department program brochures, newsletters, media materials to assure Department branding and quality standards; develops communication formats for electronic, photographic, video graphic or other alternative media to further the public health education needs of the Department; creates cross-departmental and external partnerships to further communications strategies; creates publications or other materials in support of advocacy initiatives and supports media relations and media communications strategy.
