MORE INFO: http://sites.google.com/site/aauwsvcupt/
The local branch of the American Association of University Women, serving the greater Sunnyvale/Cupertino area, is having their Autumn Luncheon and Silent Auction with proceeds going to scholarships and grants. Cost is $30 and includes lunch, entertainment and the silent auction. We have gathered a great number of items this year. Non-members are encouraged to come.
Featured speaker is a 2007 Fellowship Recipient, Barbara Hara, PhD candidate from Berkeley on her research "Studying the Effects of Carbon Trading on Renewable Energy".
Abstract: Barbara Haya is studying the effects of carbon trading on renewable energy development in India. In 2012 the Kyoto Protocol to prevent climate changes and global warming runs out. At the upcoming December conference in Copenhagen, the parties of the UNFCCC meet for the last time on government level before the climate agreement need to be renewed. Ms. Haya will give us an update on the current state of the negotiations and what is at stake - how much the science tells us we need to reduce and how much countries are currently pledging to reduce.
