Teacher Assistant Trainee (TAT) Program Highlights:
This substitute/on-call position requires no prior child care experience
High School Diploma, G.E.D. equivalency or High School Proficiency Certificate required.
Community Services Bureau will pay for tuition, parking permit, Student Union fees and books.

The Contra Costa County Community Services Bureau has immediate openings for classroom staff to work with children ages 3 months to 5 years old. The Community Services Bureau operates to meet the emotional, social, health, nutritional and psychological needs of children from low-income families. These are excellent opportunities for persons interested in the care, development and instruction of young children.
Under supervision of a Associate Preschool Teacher or Preschool Teacher, the Teacher Assistant Trainee (TAT) assists in conducting planned classroom activities for Infant/Toddler and preschool children enrolled in State and Federally funded child development programs.

TYPICAL TASKS
Assists in planning and implementing the instructional program
Nurtures the children
Assists in maintaining the safety, cleanliness and attractiveness of the learning environment
Models appropriate behavior for the children
Assists teachers in transitions at rest time, during meals, and other activities
Assists the children in solving their own problems and developing self discipline
Reports observations of unusual behaviors to the teachers and relates positive behaviors to parents
Makes verbal and written reports of suspected child abuse to Children's Protective Services and reports unusual incidents to Community Care Licensing
Performs other tasks as may be required for the efficient operation of the instructional program
