Position Title: Spanish Teacher
Hiring Range: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
Status: Part-Time (3-6hrs/wk) / Non-Exempt (Mondays/Thursdays)
Branch: Mt. Madonna YMCA @ Jackson, Nordstrom, and/or San Martin/Gwinn Elementary School

Position Description:
Jackson and Nordstrom Elementary will be starting a Spanish as a Second Language class for children (1st-6th grade) who attend Jackson and Nordstrom. This class is designed to build Spanish efficiency in order to build a stronger community. The Teacher is responsible for designing an interesting curriculum that will teach the students the fundamentals of the Spanish language that will allow them to communicate to the Spanish speaking community. Also, the teacher is responsible for developing new instructional materials to meet the changing needs of the students.

Qualifications:

Additionally, this candidate should value diversity, youth, teens and have a broad vision of health and wellness, which is enhanced by relationship building.

All new employees must have Livescan fingerprints and child abuse index check prior to hire, as well as, have a medical/TB exam completed within 3 days of employment. Must have completed First Aid and CPR certification course within 30 days of employment and a minimum age of 18 is required. Must have good communication skills with children, parents and colleagues and must be fluent in Spanish speaking, and writing and have teaching experience. Understanding of and commitment to teaching the culture of the Spanish language as well as familiarity with and the ability to use current techniques to teach grammar, syntax, pronunciation, oral communication, writing skills, and cultural material. Ability to organize and explain materials in ways appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences, willingness to monitor students' progress appropriately and ability to reflect on and evaluate the effectiveness of one's own pedagogy is a must.
