We are currently seeking an enthusiastic individual who can respond to a high volume of inbound calls from both our Customer base and our Outside Sales Team. As a key member of our Customer Service Team you will be responsible for demonstrating our commitment to customer service by setting a high standard of contact with both internal and external customers.

This position calls for a team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision.

Individual will be responsible to:
  • Answer incoming calls in an effective, positive and timely fashion;
  • Accurately process incoming orders for merchandise received by telephone, fax, email or BJC Associate;

  • Provide information on other applicable products available to assist in meeting customer needs;

  • Track open orders and backorders;

  • Route specials orders to Purchasing or Credit as needed;
  • Issue RMA information and forms for returns;

  • Follow up on freight quotes and assist in tracking numbers for shipments and deliveries;

  • Advise customers, as necessary, on all changes or modifications related to their orders;

  • Research and resolve customer inquiries or issues promptly;

  • Understand key features and benefits of products and programs and communicate this information to customers; and

  • Set and meet follow-up commitments to all external and internal customers.


  • SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Strong work ethic and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Effective oral, written and telephone communication skills.

  • Ability to analyze problems and determine a balanced solution for both the customer and the company.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of establishing and maintaining positive relationships.

  • Ability to learn essential product knowledge.

  • 3-5 years previous Customer Service Experience, preferably in the interior building materials industry.

  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet (CRM experience a plus). Strong keyboard skills.

  • Filing and basic office organizational duties.

  • Teamwork - support other departments when needed (Sales, Credit, Purchasing and Accounting).

  • An associate's or bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are highly desirable.

  • This position is based in San Jose, CA. No relocation allowance is available.
